The biggest challenge for radiation oncologists is being able to direct the cancer-killing radiation precisely to the tumor while sparing the surrounding normal tissue from damage. New technology in what's known as "stereotactic radiosurgery" can deliver radiation with millimeter precision -- about the width of a fingernail.
